Luas Finglas Green Line Extension

Overview

Luas Finglas will create a new public transport connection between the growing communities of Charlestown, Finglas Village, Finglas west, St Helena’s, Tolka Valley to Broombridge Station where it joins the existing LUAS Green Line and the National Rail network.

Though a great portion of the route will be built using grass track the survey included access to Iarnród Eireann & LUAS Transdev facilities at Broombridge Station,  Waterways Ireland access to  the Royal Canal, ESB access to various substations along the route, access to An Garda station at Finglas and many private owners and commercial operations along the corridor.

Tir3D were commissioned to carry out the survey for the preferred route undertaking Project Control, Precise Levelling,  Topographical Survey, Laser Scanning, Bathymetry.

The survey corridor was 5km long and an average of 150m wide through the North City and included the installation of Project Control.  The survey was predominantly carried out using Total Station and Precise Level to meet the demanding standards of the TII.

Laser scanning was utilised along busier roadways, junctions and track along the route to minimise the need for direct access or traffic management.
